Soothe Your Sinus CavityPosted: 11/24/2009
Were are now embarking on the holiday season, people are starting their Christmas shopping, and everybody is getting into a festive mood because it is now a time of joy and love. People will get out to the malls to buy gifts! Some families like to meet up at restaurants and have dinner! Others like to meet at the homes of family and friends for parties! During this holiday period there is one thing besides love and happiness that all these places have in common! Germs!!!Yup! Being around so many people during this special time of year is a sure way to catch a cold or virus. I'm not saying to avoid going out or to refrain from being merry, but I am saying take precaution and maybe take some preventative measures to avoid spending your holiday in bed with a fever. One of the most important protective measures you can take to protect against the onset of colds, bronchitis and viruses is to make sure your sinus cavity is flushed and all germs have been rinsed out of there. You see, the sinus cavity is a great place for germs and other things that cause infections to hide. They like to live in moist places where they can multiply and spread and before you know it your sitting in the doctors office with a bad sinus infection. Nobody likes to be sick, even if it's just a little cold! Usually when your sinuses are feeling dry or you have pressure between your eyes, this is the first signs of sinus symptoms. So I'm going to suggest a few things for you to do in order to help prevent getting sick and to keep your sinus cavity nice and clean. Lets look at the anatomy of the sinus cavity: The paranasal sinus cavities are a series of paired chambers that rest above the nose in the forehead area. Divided into the maxillary, frontal, ethmoid and sphenoid cavities, the sinuses cause some friction among anatomists who remain relatively unsure of their function in voice or breathing. In any event, they're prone to hosting disease causing germs that in turn wreak havoc on sufferers, causing congestion, pain, lightheadedness and breathing difficulties. First, go to your local drug store or grocery store and go to the pharmacy section where they have all the nasal and allergy medications and find " Oc ean ." This little gem was developed by a doctor and is designed to soothe the sinus cavity and flush out any germs that may keep your sinuses dry and irritated. Use this each day a couple times per day or as needed.Second, if you want to do a serious flush and really get all those nasty little germs and bacterias out of your head then I would go to a health store and see if they carry a neti pot. Neti Pots look like little tea kettles! You usually mix a solution of saline, water and other natural cleansing ingredients into the pot. From there, you have to tilt your head almost right side up so that you can stick the tip of the neti pot into one nostril and poor the solution into your nose and down into the sinus cavity. You may cough do to the solution running down the back of your throat but for the most part the mixture usually flows out the other nostril and flushes out of everything from your sinuses. This helps not only in protection against colds and sinus infections but helps soothe the cavity so your not experiencing sinus pressure, dryness or any other sinus symptoms. ![]() By following these two easy steps you will ensure to have better protection against sinus infections, colds, sinusitis, rhinitis, and other infections that can effect the respiratory system. Always remember that your sinus cavity wasn't made to handle any harsh, chemical sprays that people can buy over the counter. Not only are these bad, but they can also be addictive. Do your sinuses a favor and treat them with only natural ingredients. Not only will they love you for it but you will feel a clear sense of well being. Stay consistent each day with a couple doses of " Ocean " saline spray and apply a neti pot rinse only when feeling sinus symptoms. Have a safe and happy holiday and as always be safe and stay healthy! Share this information on Facebook
