Children Need to Be More Active

This article will not be a long one but one that gets straight to the point! Childhood obesity! other than having some genetic disease or some type of medical condition, there is no excuse for it. How can a parent let their kids sit in front of a damn television for 6 hours a day and be OK with that. Especially when the kid is stuffing their face with a bunch of fattening foods and high sugar sodas? Seriously, parents like these need to be given a court summons for being irresponsible and reckless.

I have seen cases that make me so irate I can barley control myself. Once, I observed an 8 year old little boy kick and scream at a restaurant because his parents only got him one hot fudge Sunday and not 3 like he requested. What did his parents do? They gave in and bought the little(not really) monster 2 more. I literally almost walked over to the table and asked if they were going to make him jog home. I know that sounds brash but seriously, if that were my kid, first, he or she wouldn't be 60lbs over weight, and second, I would taken of my belt a whipped his big ol' butt into next week. You could say that childhood obesity really pisses me off!

Like I said, unless there is some type of medical condition there is no excuse that parents can't get their children out of the house for an hour each day. If going out to play sports for an hour just to get some exercise doesn't thrill the kid then try to connect with things they are interested in. Tell them you want to go outside with them and play a game. The game will be a version of their favorite video game and from there you make up some version of it that includes jogging or running do get their little bodies burning calories and to improve their cardiovascular systems. For ex. let's say the kids video game of choice is some type of game where you battle monsters of thugs. You pretend that your are living the game, make up some similar rules, and make sure in order to play the game properly you get the kids into chasing you or one another like they do in the video games. use your imagination, this will get the kids moving.

If your child has expressed interest in sports by all means get them involved with some local teams in the area. If your work schedule does not permit you to get home in time to take them make sure to check with their school and see if they have an after school program that involves sports or some form of exercise. The child may spark some serious interest in these types of programs and really take a liking to it. If you have time to get home and take them to some type of sports program then that's even better. With sports, if the organization is good, they will not only get the kids the proper exercise they need but also teach team work in the process.

Look, the most important aspect of a child id to make sure they grow up healthy and they are loved. if you are a parent who is also over weight always remember that our kids lead by example. I'm not trying to put anybody down here but if your kids see you as a bigger person then chances are they will except this as OK. They need to know that being over weight is unhealthy and has consequences. When you get your kids involved in activities for their health try being involved with them. Not only are you getting exercise for yourself but your setting an awesome example. Try these tips today! These are basic ones to get you started.
