Feed Your Dog Natural Food

Posted: 11/22/2009
There are a ton of different dog foods to chose from in your local grocery stores or your local Petsmart but the hard part is figuring out which one is best. After all, your furry friend is just as much a part of your family as your obnoxious Uncle Larry, the uncle that usually can be heard passing gas at the dinner table. Most dog food companies claim to have the best ingredients to ensure a long, healthy life for your dog. But what these companies don't tell the average customer is that wheat, corn, soy, gluten and bi-products that make up these foods can be very damaging to your dog's health.

We have a Rottweiler and making sure that his diet consists of natural, holistic dog food is very important. Over the years he has developed allergies to food as well as some bacterias that like to hang outside in the back yard. Our family has to do our best to make sure we stay on top of this otherwise Baracus starts to get crud in his ears, he gets really itchy and his fur starts to fall out along with dried up pieces of skin. It can be very frustrating not to know what to do for your hairy guy.

You can take them to the vets just to be told they have to run a series of test that's going to vacuum out an easy thousand dollars right out of your wallet. They might suggest putting them on antibiotics which help clear up infections but crush the poor dog's immune system by killing off the good bacteria in it's digestive tract. It isn't uncommon for people to hav to spend a couple thousand dolars before finding an answer to his or her health problems. In today's world, not a lot of people have that extra cash to spend and feel horrible because they love their pet and don't want to see it suffer any longer. I feel for you! I know what it's like. So here are some solutions that you might try before worrying about that costly veterinarian bill.

First, cut off all intake of dog biscuits or any other table scraps. If these treats contain corn or wheat it is very likely the dog may have developed an allergy. Even if the dog use to be able to eat these things without incident in the past doesn't mean they can't develop an allergy now. Just like humans, over the years, you too can develop an allergy. Next, be sure to take the dog off of regular pet food and I mean even the ones that you thought were big name companies that carry worthy products. Not to drop any names but there is one who's company name starts with an I and another that starts with a P. Trust me there is corn, wheat and bi-products in those foods. Royal Canin Dog Food

On deciding what brand of food to try and what that food should contain my suggestion is to try a brand called Canidae or Royal Canin. These two companies only sell natural and holistic foods that carry real ingredients such as chicken, turkey, beef, fish and duck. The carbohydrates in the food comes from potato, real fruits and grains. When dealing with a food allergy you may want to look for the duck and potato diet. The idea when dealing with an allergy is to give the dog a protein and a starch. Once you choose the food make sure to commit in only feeding the dog this new food and only this new food. No table scraps or treats. You can add a teaspoon of natural olive oil to it's food to give extra fatty acids which are excellent for it's skin.

Next, grab a small bottle of either liquid vitamin E oil or vitamin E gel caps. Add this to his or her food for extra skin health. The dog may be difficient in certain vitamins or fatty acids which help in developing a good coat and skin. Also, if you go to a health food store I would recommend grabbing a small bottle of colloidal silver. Colloidal silver is an excellent natural, powerful antibiotic which kiils off bacteria that causes ear and skin infections. You can mix 10ml of it in distilled water and put it in a 10oz spray bottle. Spray this mixture on the dog's infected areas three times per day until you start to see it clearing up. Also put another 10ml in the dog's water. When the dog consumes the water he or she will get the colloidal silver in it's system so it can go to work in the inside and kill off whatever bacteria is causing the infections. To read more about colloidal silver please read my other article on this site named colloidal silver.

There you have it! Try some of these tips before you spend an arm and a leg on veterinarian bills. I as well as many others have had great success with these suggestions and have saved a ton of money. If you don't see any improvement then by all means take your pet to the doctor. Your pet is a member of the family and it's health is just as important as yours. Your dog needs to be fed natural dog food just like you need to eat natural whole foods. If you have any questions please send me a comment through the comment box and I will gladly get back to you. Until next time be safe and stay healthy!
